Welcome aboard the Iommi Corp Starhauler x1-5
Broadcasting from somewhere beyond the edge of the known galaxy, Black Manifold Transmissions follows interstellar starhaulers Brake Savage and Ole Smog as they travel the dying trade routes of a far-off future where heavy metal has been outlawed, censored, and nearly erased from existence.
Compelled by the mysterious force known only as the Headbanger’s Matrix, the two smugglers risk cosmic law, corrupt megacorps, dying planets, and their own questionable competence to preserve and transmit the sacred riffs of humanity’s lost heavy music culture back across the stars.
Part improv comedy show, part heavy music deep dive, Black Manifold Transmissions blends genuine discussion of legendary albums, bands, and underground scenes with absurd sci-fi worldbuilding, recurring characters, strange transmissions, doomed space stations, and the ongoing adventures of two barely-functional metal lifers trying to keep the flame alive in a hostile universe.
Each episode centers around a different record, artist, or movement from the world of heavy music — from hardcore and death metal to black metal, sludge, crossover thrash, doom, and beyond — while Brake and Ole attempt to explain why these sounds mattered enough for civilization to try and destroy them.
Expect:
deep album analysis
long-form riff worship
improvised sci-fi storytelling
fake galactic advertisements
bizarre lore
space trucker philosophy
and an unhealthy amount of screaming about guitar tones
At its core, Black Manifold Transmissions is a show about preserving art, surviving collapse, and believing that somewhere out there, the riff still matters.
